Ultimate Guide to On-Chain Analysis on Solana

Solana's entire transaction history is public, permanent, and real-time. Every wallet, every swap, every liquidation is visible the moment it happens. This guide covers everything you need to read that data and trade smarter.

Ultimate Guide to On-Chain Analysis on Solana

What You'll Learn
- The difference between on-chain and off-chain analysis
- Key Solana metrics that actually matter
- How to read wallet behavior like a book
- Advanced flow analysis: DEX, CEX, and bridge movements
- Building a personal on-chain dashboard

The 5 Core Metrics

1. Exchange Net Flow
The single most reliable metric. More tokens leaving exchanges than entering = accumulation. More entering = selling pressure. Track this daily for SOL and your watched tokens.

2. Active Wallets
Spikes in new wallet creation often precede major moves. Track "New Wallets Created" vs "Active Wallets" — a divergence here signals coordinated activity.

3. Whale Transaction Count
Ignore total volume — it's easily manipulated. Track the count of transactions above $100K instead. Consistent high-count whale activity is a stronger signal than one giant tx.

4. DEX Volume vs CEX Volume
On Solana, most retail trades on DEXs (Jupiter, Raydium). When DEX volume spikes relative to CEX volume, retail is active — often a contrarian signal.

5. Staking Ratio
When staking ratio drops, it means unlocked SOL is entering circulation. A declining staking ratio over 7+ days often precedes selling pressure.
